Rushed farewell
Aug. 27th, 2003 11:42 pmI had hoped to have a bit more time to compose this, but it's close to midnight already, and our plane leaves in the morning. If I hadn't mentioned this already, we're going to Worldcon in Toronto. And suddenly there seemed to be too many last-minute things to do.
Before that, of course, there were numerous time-wasters, of which the most notable recently has been Space Empires III, which Simon recently got me into playing again. I've never finished a game of that, in the sense that I wiped out all the competing alien empires, or even reached any sort of closure. I just keep starting new ones when the old ones become cumbersome.
I haven't even had time to talk about the Livejournal Meetup I went to last night. It was an interesting contrast to the dwindling Blogger Meetups, with at least a dozen people there at one time or another. Young whippersnappers, most of them.* So my Friends list increases again, and soon I'll fall behind on it the way I have on all my blogs... Is there a way to use RSS feeds to accomplish the same thing as a Friends list--all the recent posts from your favourite bloggers on one convenient page? I should look into that.
The second anniversary of my blog is coming up on the 31st, and I've decided by this point that I will commemorate it by not posting in the entire month of August. My last blog post was on July 31st, and by now I won't be blogging until we come back from Toronto(I have little urge even to post here while on vacation), so it'll be easy. I may declare an official hiatus. But then I have to decide what to do about my favourite-songs countdown, and...all the baggage in my head that has made me move over to another journal to get away from it.
Anyway, we're coming back on Monday, and I'm planning to take Tuesday and Wednesday off, so I'm sure I'll have lots of time to play more Space Empires. I mean post.
