To relieve the lingering suspense about the last few entries in my first-sentence quiz, here are the answers:
1. When Jeff Lacrosse saw the Bronco in the ditch, he almost didn't stop.
Well, I guess this just means that none of you have read my wife's 2001 novel Running On Instinct.
2. "We should start back," Gared urged as the woods began to grow dark around them.
