Okay, Nicole and I have now finished watching the Firefly DVDs. Well, except for all of the special features on the last disc. So, [livejournal.com profile] thegreymouser, you can have them back soon.

So apparently, if we had persevered beyond two episodes the first time through, eventually we would've gotten to the real good stuff, episodes like "Jaynestown" and "Out of Gas". By which point the series would be about to be cancelled. And I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed if anyone had been polling us on what shows we watched, so it's not like it would've made much difference to us. On the whole, I think this way led to less frustration, except when I got annoyed at all the people raving about the show and mourning over its cancellation.

Now we can go see the movie. Oh, I've heard that we could've gone to see it at any time, but the fact is, we haven't actually had a chance to go see a movie on our own since "Serenity" came out. All the movies we've seen have been with the boys. (Well, "Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire" I went on my own, and Nicole took Simon the next day.) And it's not unlikely the next one we see will be the Narnia one, also probably with the boys. "Serenity" is also warring with "Flightplan" for our interest, but it may depend if either of them is actually still in the cheap theatres when we next actually get to go out.

But the show was pretty good, and I'm sure could easily beat, say, "Threshold" on an episode-for-episode basis, because, frankly, Morena Baccarin and Carla Gugino is a pretty close match, and you've also got Jewel Staite and the others to contend with. Not to mention better dialogue and characters. Oh, yeah, and the woman who played Saffron, too. No, but really, that's not all I watch TV for. I mean, there's hardly any cleavage on "The West Wing". Yes, I'm mostly kidding here. I hope.
