Since it's music-related, I'll try to do [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive this week... Though it's actually two sets of five questions...

Then:

1) What was the first album/CD/Cassette you ever bought?

It's probably an ABBA album--I'd guess "The Visitors", but it might have been "Super Trouper". I'm a little vague on who paid for them back then, you know? After discovering a wider world of music via videos(what I consider my "musical awakening"), it would have to be "The Language of Attraction" by Animotion. That's the first one I remember buying.

2) What was your first fave song?

How am I suppose to remember that? Ummm...I'm thinking something from Paul McCartney's "Tug of War" album, probably "Ballroom Dancing".

3) Which song gives you that "funny nostalgic feeling" everytime you hear it?

Many of them. If I had to pick one, it'd have to be "Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister.

4) Name the first concert you ever went to.

I can't remember if it was Ann Mortifee(for "Born To Live")or the Nylons(for "Seamless"), but one or the other.

5) What do you consider the worst song of all time?

Always a hard, and incredibly subjective, question. Do you pick a song by someone you could never stand in the first place, or a song that's disappointing because it's by someone you otherwise like? The worst song I own a recording of personally may be The Rheostatics' execrable cover version of Jane Siberry's "One More Colour".

Now:

1) Name your fave song at the moment.

Didn't I answer this one a couple of weeks ago? No matter, it may have changed. Right now I have a powerful hankerin' for "The Way" by Fastball.

2) What is the most recent album/CD/Cassette you purchased?

That I purchased? That lets out the Oasis album I got for Christmas. It doesn't mention MP3s there, so the ones I bought from eMusic don't count. So it would be the three library discards I bought before that--"The Road To Ensenada" by Lyle Lovett, "I Feel Alright" by Steve Earle, and "'Heroes' Symphony" by Philip Glass.

3) Which song will you never get sick of hearing?

"Shout" by Tears For Fears.

4) What is your current fave music video?

I haven't watched one in years, but one of my favourites from my MuchMusic days was always "True Faith" by New Order(by the same wacky French guy who did "She Drives Me Crazy"). Slightly more recently, I really liked "Californication" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

5) If you could be a famous music artist, what type of music would you produce?

Music with complex layerings of rhythms, harmony vocals, and probably fairly geek-rock lyrics.
