Blind But Brave
Feb. 22nd, 2006 09:21 pmYou know, I may have been a little bit premature to blame those Fuji CD-Rs. Because the last three or four music CDs I've burned on my computer, on a couple of different manufacturers' discs, haven't worked in my CD player, either. Which means that the medium may not be at fault. Now, since all of those discs play just fine in my home computer and my work computer's CD-ROM drives, and store-bought CDs play just fine in my CD player, does that make the player or the burner more likely to be the culprit?
If it's home-burned CDs that are the problem, I could try one of the CDs I burned months ago, that played just fine(though I don't always play them at home), and see if it's stopped working. Or I could try to burn a CD on a different computer and see if that works on mine.
I'd like to replace my CD player. It's probably almost ten years old now, and crotchety; it was a display model when we got it, and there's always been a few CDs that didn't play well on it. (Not that I've ever cleaned the lenses or anything like that, of course.) CD players are probably cheaper now, too, though I'd still like one with a double tape deck, which is a little pricier. But if I can prove conclusively that this thing doesn't work properly any more, I'll gladly give it the boot.
