Because I didn't have enough things to try with Sims 2, I stumbled across The Legacy Challenge. It sounds interesting, and I do like the idea of following a Sim family for several generations. Using only NPCs is trickier, but I suppose it can be done. I started a new neighbourhood (an arid one this time, since I've been using mostly green ones), created Elstree Azpiazu, and moved her in to a 5x5 vacant lot, as per the rules.

Unfortunately, that only left her with about S3800 to build a house, which is not that much when you have to start from the ground up. At the moment she has a small bathroom and a bedroom with a single bed, and everything else (not much) is outside. She either needs to marry a rich Sim stat, or get a really good job. Unfortunately, I picked a job where she starts with a day off, which means no income until tomorrow. Frack! Oh, well, she'll survive, or she won't.

After avoiding it for most of the weekend in favour of the Canadian edition of The Book of Lists (a recent purchase), I've finally made some progress in Nova Express. Not much, but enough. I did some belated research and discovered that it's related to Naked Lunch, The Ticket That Exploded, and Soft Machine, none of which I'm read, but related in such a loose fashion that it shouldn't make much difference. Some bits and pieces are familiar to me from some of the Burroughs recordings I've listened to, though I have no idea which ones are in this book. The cut-up sections I mostly just skim over since they're low-content, just like I would any other block of poetry.

Nicole's probably in bed already, sick again, with whatever the boys have been having. I'm still feeling mostly fine, but having missed the last two family viruses, I'm wondering how long that's going to last.

Oh, well, back to the Sims 2. This is about as long as I can keep myself away from it. I just spent half an hour renaming the Legacy neighbourhood NPC sims, so that I don't have to meet Goopy and Abhijeet again. They still look the same, but at least they have different names, and that's important to me.
