alfvaenI ran across today a reference to an interesting-sounding project. I wish I remember where I saw it--I think it was from the MSN website, so nothing that obscure, but I can't find it now.
Anyway, there's a site called Small World Project, out of Columbia University. It's doing serious research into the "six degrees of separation" thing. I think I remember seeing one of those a few years ago, maybe even the same one, but I gave up when I couldn't figure out how to sign up for it.
This one is pretty easy, though it's really slow right now. Probably because of getting a link on a major news website. But I signed up, and have been assigned my first target. I probably can't post too much about him here--that would be telling, and probably invasion of privacy, as well. I will say that he's from the Bronx.
So we'll see how this works. I signed up to be a potential target myself, but who knows if that'll happen anytime soon...
