Another Botober story has arrived, but this time, without any particular inspiration for a clever introduction.  Instead I'll just list the prompts for October 13th:
  • Things: Milkchamallowfluffykings
  • Concepts: Two doorways
  • Advanced: An Etruscan bowl filled with cat hair on a coffee table
  • Terrible: A pile of porridge oats

Catquest

Atia poured out the porridge oats into a pile on the coffee table, in the open circle next to her Etruscan bowl full of cat hair.  She dribbled a little bit of her precious store of blood onto it.  Slowly she chanted until she felt the spirit's presence, drawn by the blood, flit into the circle and begin trying to drink it.  The porridge slowed it down enough that she was able to close the circle before it finished and tried to leave.

<Why you trap?> wailed the spirit.  <I kill you unless you let free!  Drink all your blood!>

"I will not let you free until you promise to fulfill a task for me," Atia said, unperturbed by the threats and wailing.  "You will wait a long time, otherwise."

The spirit, whose sense of time was fluid, rapidly gave up.  <What task?>

"The bowl," Atia said.  "Hair from the body of a creature.  Bring me to it."

After some more grumbling, the spirit acceded.  Once it had sworn binding oaths, Atia opened the circle and let it free.

It eddied into her body, and almost against her will, Atia stood up and walked down the hallway.  It stretched on for much longer than her apartment, eventually ending at two doorways.  On the right, she heard plaintive meowing, and she was about to step through it when she felt the spirit tugging at her.  "No, he's there," she insisted.  "Mallow!"

<Not your creature!> the spirit insisted.  <Go other way!>

After more struggles, Atia finally recognized that the sound was simple and repetitive, a subtle glamour that she'd almost fallen for.  She almost thanked the spirit, but she knew that expressing gratitude would disrupt their current arrangement, and she didn't really want it to take any of her blood right now.  She let it pull her through the left-hand doorway.

Once through, she heard the meows again, but this time she was sure they were the right ones.  She couldn't see her cat, though.  She took a pouch of kibble out of her pocket and clucked her tongue with a minor summoning.  The meowing stopped, and soon a familiar white form was padding towards her out of the shadows.  She picked Mallow up in her arms, and felt the spirit she'd summoned leave her body.  She heard tiny squeals as the michievous creatures that had abducted Mallow fled from the spirit.  She stepped back through the doorway and soon they were back in her apartment.

"Who's my little Milkchamallowfluffykings?" she whispered as he purred in her arms.
