Botober 14: Giraffes
Oct. 14th, 2020 10:09 pmEverybody knows that AIs love giraffes, don't they? Don't they? Giraffes are great. So it's no surprise they showed up in the Botober prompts:
- Things: Tiny chocolate pants
- Concepts: Giraffes
- Advanced: An unlabeled breakable thing
- Terrible: Wattle trees
Giraffes
Ilene studied the AI image identification results, her screen bright in the dimness of her office.
"Giraffes feeding on wattle trees". Not bad; she knew they were acacias, but she wasn't clear on which acacias were wattles. Definitely giraffes in the picture, though. She clicked the max positive response. The next image came up, with its caption.
"Giraffes wearing tiny chocolate pants". Well, that was a dog, not a giraffe, and its legs were muddy, not chocolatey. She clicked the max negative response.
"Giraffes on a train". That was...a train, yes. But there were no giraffes on it, or even nearby. She peered more closely at the image. That was the train she took to and from work every day. Odd. She didn't know that kind of image was in the test data. No reason it couldn't be, of course, just a weird coincidence. She gave it partial marks for at least spotting the train.
"Giraffes in an elevator". Clearly giraffes would not fit in an elevator. The elevator was completely empty, in any case. Well, presumably apart from whoever had taken the picture. That looked like the same kind of elevator from this building, too. Another weird coincidence, surely. Partial marks.
The next image came up, and she couldn't even tell what it was, at first. The caption hadn't loaded yet. She squinted further. Some kind of doorway, a bright rectangle with a silhouette posed in front of it...a person with long hair, a woman, perhaps? This was much too hard an image for this trial set. She'd have to find who even put this in here...
The last thing she heard was a loud crunching sound.

The last image they saw on her computer after they found the trampled remains of her body was labelled "Giraffes breaking an unknown thing".
