Stop Making Sense
Dec. 1st, 2004 07:58 amSo, I did make 50,000 words in The Man In The Suit Named Everett for NaNoWriMo.
To give you an indication about how satisfied I am with the work that I put in on the novel so far: When I got to 49,990 words, I completed the novel with the following:
Just then, the Earth blew up and everybody died. Boom.
There may be a novel in there somewhere, struggling to get out, but at the moment it's pretty bad. I spend a large portion of those words floundering and digressing, and practically writing parts of a second novel, "The Man Whose Brother Died In Toronto". I was beginning to get into something resembling a climax, but it wasn't an inspiring one. For one thing, I still had little or no idea what was actually going on. The timeline was so screwed up that I'm pretty sure one of them had an extra week or two in there.
I may try to finish off "The Soul-Stealers" before I take another look at this one. Whether I'll try to finish the first draft, or start in with the rewrite right away, I don't know.
