Stepping On The Wrong Feet
Apr. 11th, 2010 05:29 pmI've been trying to keep my Sims 2 playing to reasonable levels, in relative terms, by only playing every other day. That way, I can use the alternate days for doing things that I could also do on my computer, like, say, writing blog posts. Or loading new music onto my MP3 player, or entering expenses for our upcoming taxes (right, I forgot, we need to buy this year's copy of our tax program, that was what I wanted to do yesterday), or cataloguing books, or whatever else. Because if I don't set that time aside, it doesn't happen.
Today is, of course, an "off-Sims" day. Friday was too, but Nicole and I went out to see "The Bounty Hunter" on our date night. We had supper at Chili's, where I'd gone with other Investopedia employees for one of our birthday lunches last year, but this time I wasn't quite satisfied with it. I had the Chipotle Blue Cheese Bacon burger, and the chipotle was a little spicy for me. (No substitute for Pub 1905's Blue Cheese burger. Mmm, pub lunch.)
Anyway, "Bounty Hunter". It was okay, entertaining, and Jennifer Aniston looked hot. (I can't comment on Gerard Butler.) It could have been better, but at least it looked more entertaining than two or three of the movies whose trailers we saw beforehand. ("Robin Hood" looked okay, and "Killers" might be entertaining, but "Eat Pray Love" and "SATC 2" looked chick-flick only, and the other one looked aimed at the "Daddy Day Care" and "Wild Hogs" market. "Grown Ups", that was it.) Based on the reviews, I might have enjoyed "Date Night" better, but considering that that one sold out shortly after we arrived, it's a little too soon for that one.
I went to give blood on Saturday, and for the first time ever my blood failed the iron test, so they wouldn't let me donate. Now I'm wondering if I should be concerned. Nicole gave up going to the clinic when she was anemic two or three times in a row, so maybe it's not a big deal. I've been eating pistachios (which apparently are high in iron, among other things), so we'll see if I'm back on track. I did feel tired on Saturday, but I'm not sure if that'd be cause or effect.
We're falling behind on a few of our TV shows. We're a couple of episodes behind on "Flashforward", and there's a new "True Blood" on tonight and we haven't watched last week's. These days we just don't always feel like watching a full hour of TV every night, or even every other night. This is why we don't rent movies that often, either. We are keeping up on "Lost", which has a finite number of episodes left, and our two sitcoms, "How I Met Your Mother" and "Big Bang Theory"; somewhat surprisingly, we're also keeping up on "Fringe", which was the one we let fall behind the last time. Nicole's preferred strategy is to only fall behind on one show, but I can't always manage it. Besides, it's harder to find them on the PVR, which is getting cluttered with "Penguins of Madagascar" episodes for the kids.
And now Nicole is calling me upstairs, so that's all for now.
